Weaving Beautiful Baskets...workshop in Auckland, 22nd/23rd August 2020.

We had a wonderful weekend weaving at the Selwyn Community College, in Auckland in September 2019.  10 students made wonderful baskets with cane and driftwood.

I have been asked back to tutor the course again in 2020, on 22nd/23rd August 2020., and again on 14th/15th November 2020.

WHAT WILL WE MAKE: Normally for beginners I suggest a small basket with a handle followed by a tray or a platter.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN. You will get to grips with basic basketry techniques, understand a little about the willow industry, growing and harvesting willow, take home some beautiful, strong, environmentally friendly treasures, meet like-minded folk and have some fun.

COST: $250 including materials. $50 deposit , $200 paid on the day.

WHAT TO BRING. Your lunch, flexibility and a sense of experimentation and humour.

Please contact me  if you want to enrol in the next workshop or if you want to be put on the mailing list for future courses.

Beginners learn all the initial techniques and usually start with a round basket with a handle, plus a tray.

Intermediate weavers can move onto larger and more complex baskets.

We can also weave garden wigwams for beans or sweet peas.

Here are a few more pictures of what people have made during the workshops.
